We're open again

From 15 June, the shop has re-opened part-time – see our Contact page for current hours. We have learned from early trials and responded to suggestions from our members and customers.

Our priority is to keep you and ourselves safe. We undertook a risk assessment, carefully following the Government Guidelines for retail premises and thoroughly cleaning the store. The shopping experience is very different, but we hope it meets your needs.

We made an Eco Colouring Book to help the kids keep entertained and active at home. Download your free copy here.

When visiting us:

  • There will be a reduced number (currently two per room) of customers in the shop at any one time

  • Please queue outside the rear riverside door until asked to enter

  • Wear a face covering

  • Shop alone if possible

  • Use hand-sanitizer on entry

  • Use one of our paper bags for your purchases – also for any goods you handle but decide not to purchase

  • Help keep everyone safe: stay two metres apart at all times

  • Follow the floor markings and keep to the one-way system

  • Do not retrace your steps

  • Please touch only those items you plan to buy

  • Staff will be on each floor: ask if you need to know prices

  • Respect customers and staff

  • Payment is by CARD ONLY

  • Follow the instructions of how to pay

  • Sanitize and follow exit signs onto Huddersfield Road.

Coronavirus continues to create uncertainty and concern all round the world. As a community co-operative we want to play our small part to support our members and customers. We still offer alternative ways to shop by phone, email or online or personal shopping, where you will be the only customer in the shop at limited times.

EMAIL US at info@fairtrader.coop with either specific needs (eg two bags of almonds, one jar of toothpaste, one bottle of olive oil) or a general query. We can email you an invoice which can be paid online and you can then collect your order from the shop or arrange delivery.

USE THIS WEBSITE – If you live in the UK, you can buy a selected range of items from our online shop including gift boxes, coffees, accessories, toiletries, jewelleryPalestinian foods etc and vouchers valid for 15 months – for occasions when you can’t visit someone but would like to send a gift.

LOCAL HOME DELIVERY DURING LOCKDOWN– If you live in HD9 a small team of volunteers has offered to drop deliveries at your door, with social distancing measures in place. (The minimum spend for this service is £20).

DELIVERY BY POST OR COURIER – Free on UK orders over £50. Otherwise charged at the cost of post/courier. We also offer to gift wrap any present.

Our suppliers in far-away places are often at greater risk than ourselves. Some will live in areas lacking even basic health care. We hope to continue to be able to support them now and in the future.

If you have suggestions about how we can adapt to better serve your needs, then please do get in touch.
