Shop reopening

From 15 June, the shop will re-open part-time – see our Contact page for details. We will learn from this trial and respond to suggestions from our members and customers.

Our priority is to keep you and ourselves safe. We have spent the past weeks preparing for this, undertaking a risk assessment, carefully following the Government Guidelines for retail premises and cleaning the store.

The shopping experience will be very different, but we hope it will meet your needs.

When visiting us:

  • There will be a maximum of four customers in the shop at any one time

  • Please queue outside the rear riverside door until asked to enter

  • Shop alone if possible

  • Use sanitizer on entry

  • Help keep everyone safe: stay 2 metres apart at all times

  • Follow the floor markings and keep to the one-way system

  • Do not retrace your steps

  • Please touch only the items you plan to buy

  • Staff will be on each floor: ask if you need to know prices

  • Respect customers and staff

  • Payment by CARD ONLY

  • Follow the instructions of how to pay

  • Sanitize and follow exit signs onto Huddersfield Road.

Coronavirus continues to create uncertainty and concern among us all round the world. As a community co-operative we want to play our small part to support our members and customers. We still offer alternative ways to shop – as during the lockdown – by phone, email or online.

We have stocks of food and drink (including tea, coffee, chocolate, wine, non-alcoholic drinks, olive oil, dates, maftoul couscous, rice, Easter eggs), bath and body products  (toothpaste, deodorant, soap, moisturiser etc) and our usual homewares, toys, gifts, stationery and accessories.

EMAIL US at info@fairtrader.coop with either specific needs (eg 2 bags almonds, 1 jar toothpaste, 1 Easter egg) or a general query. We can email you an invoice which can be paid online and you can then collect your order from the shop at a pre-arranged time with social distancing measures in place, or have it delivered.

USE THIS WEBSITE – If you live in the UK, you can buy a selected range of items including coffees, accessories, toiletries, jewelleryPalestinian foods etc and vouchers valid for 15 months, for if you can’t visit someone but would like to send a gift.
LOCAL HOME DELIVERY – If you live in HD9 a small team of volunteers has offered to drop deliveries at your door, with social distancing measures in place. (The minimum spend for this is £20).
DELIVERY BY POST OR COURIER – Free on UK orders over £50. Otherwise charged at the cost of post/courier. We also offer to gift wrap any present.
Our suppliers in far-away places are often at greater risk than ourselves. Some will live in areas lacking even basic health care. We hope to continue to be able to support them now and in the future.
Holme Valley Mutual Aid is trying to find local volunteers and match them to those in need (for shopping or support). Contact them at www.holmevalleymutualaid.co.uk, phone 01484 212056 or email support@holmevalleymutualaid.co.uk
If you have suggestions about how we can adapt to better serve your needs, then please do get in touch.
