We want to say a very big thank you to all of our fabulous customers, members, volunteers and friends for their brilliant support in 2022. This past year was our strongest year yet and we couldn’t have done it without you.
Here’s an update on some of the things we did in 2022, as well as some of our focuses for the year ahead.
Our dedicated pop-up art space ‘featured@ fair trader’ continued to go from strength to strength in 2022. We held 8 separate exhibitions in the display area, featuring 24 talented designers, makers and artists. The beautiful, unique artworks brought customers to the shop from all over the country and we’re thrilled to have welcomed such incredible creatives into the space.

Not only did we have wonderful creatives exhibiting their artwork at Fair Trader, but we also hosted a myriad of crafty events! Some of our top get-togethers involved sewing, macrame, wreath-making and poetry.

Our window displays continued to make a big impression again in 2022 and some had people talking for months. One such display was our ‘ethical weddings window’ featuring an original wedding dress donated by one of our wonderful volunteers!
It wasn’t all just in-store changes though – we also redesigned and launched the brand new Fair Trader website and webshop. We felt it was time the site had a fresh new look and wanted to create a way for people to shop for their favourite Fair Trader gifts, clothing, homeware and more, all from the comfort of their own homes! We hope you like the new look and be sure to check out our online webshop.
So, that was 2022… what do we have in mind for 2023?
Alongside continuing to hold great events and exhibitions and expanding our wonderful product range, the main goal for Fair Trader this year is to become even more sustainable and earth-friendly than ever before.
We’ve already kicked this off in style with a new year’s redecoration of the store – all in eco-friendly paint. We’re currently undertaking sustainability studies on all of our suppliers and are working towards a goal of being completely carbon neutral. We’re making it easier for the local community to recycle with us, and are expanding the range of materials we can accept. We are also committed to only using recycled packaging for our in-store and online orders.
