Recruiting: Buyer at Fair Trader
Located in the vibrant town of Holmfirth, Fair Trader is a treasure trove of beautiful, ethical products with a story to tell. We partner with around 127 smaller and sustainable suppliers, each assessed by our members as having a positive impact on people and planet. From the historic Toll House building in Holmfirth, we offer a wide range of gifts, homeware, food and drink, and our mission is to give our customers affordable ethical products. As well as ethically sourcing items from developing countries, we support local artisans, designers and creators of beautiful goods and promote the ‘shop local’ movement.
We are looking for someone to source and promote our range of sustainable, well-designed gifts, homewares, accessories and much more. An exciting opportunity to be part of our small, dynamic Holmfirth-based team.
Our new Buyer will lead the acquisition of a range of complementary, sustainable, well-designed products (for our not-for-profit store and web-shop) within a set budget and further develop Fair Trader as the ‘go to’ destination for ethical gifts.
The successful applicant will be someone who is an excellent communicator who will build relationships with suppliers, further develop our retail space and make a significant contribution to increased profitability. In the absence of the Retail Manager, you will also be required to take responsibility for the store, manage staff and volunteers.
Our ideal person is someone who is passionate about fair and ethical trading, who is visually aware and design-led in all areas of work and who will also be involved in the receipt, processing and display of goods.
As Buyer, your choices will have a fundamental impact on the quality and profitability of our offer. You will need to be self-motivated and also welcome working with the Retail Manager as part of a small, dynamic team.
