Fair Trader Job Vacancy

Fair Trader values

Fair Trader is up for the post-Covid challenge. Are you?

Located in the vibrant town of Holmfirth, Fair Trader is a treasure trove of beautiful, ethical products with a story to tell. We partner with around 127 smaller and sustainable suppliers, each assessed by our members as having a positive impact on people and planet. From the historic Toll House building in Holmfirth, we offer a wide range of gifts, homeware, food and drink, and our mission is to give our customers affordable ethical products. As well as ethically sourcing items from developing countries, we support local artisans, designers and creators of beautiful goods and promote the ‘shop local’ movement.

The Holmfirth high street has transformed in recent years, welcoming many new establishments to the area, included fantastic places to eat, drink and visit. Fair Trader recently celebrated a decade of trading with a complete rebrand and facelift for the shop and online store. This resulted in a more prominent shop front and affirmed our place as a go-to shop for locals and visitors alike.

As a result of the Covid Pandemic, more people are buying online and many are shopping locally for the first time. Customers are returning to the High Street and need reassurance that it is safe for them to do so. To make the most of these opportunities, we are now investing in the development of our retail and online offer by recruiting a dynamic, new retail manager.

Our new Retail Manager will play a key role in leading the next phase of Fair Trader and communicating our values. The successful applicant will be someone who is dynamic, flexible, upbeat and a real people person. We seek someone who will get to know and love the producers we work with, become a favourite face on Holmfirth's high street, and who shares our passion for supporting producers in the developing world.

We are a co-operative with strong ethical and environmental values and are committed to making a difference. We expect all staff and volunteers to ascribe to our principles.
