We are very excited to introduce you to David Helm, one of the artists who will be showcasing their work at featured@ fair trader during July and August 2022.
After finishing my Fine Art degree in 76, I worked with Mary Wondrausch for 2 years producing English Slipware. Following that, I taught ceramics in a variety of adult education settings before becoming a social worker.
10 years ago I set up a studio in West Yorkshire and started potting again full time. My work most recently is exploring the idea of beauty found in imperfection, sometimes referred to as ‘wabi-sabi’.
Thrown wares are finished with various processes including raku, sodium silicate and traditional glazes, sometimes wood fired, all with the intention of exploring the depth and mystery of different surface treatments.
