Artweek Fringe at Fair Trader

It’s lovely to be back to normal and, during the first week of July, it’s Holmfirth Artweek once again – the huge local festival that has raised almost one million pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support since its inception in 1967. This year will see a major change, with proceeds being shared between three beneficiaries – Macmillan Cancer Support, Kirkwood Hospice and Holmfirth Tech.

Artweek is a local event with a national reputation. The majority of the exhibitors are from the local area, but large numbers of visitors come from all over the country to view and to buy. One of the UK’s largest open art exhibitions, Artweek normally attracts over 400 exhibitors and over 2,000 artworks, plus dozens of fringe venues across the local area showing thousands more works of art and craft.

As part of the Fringe this year, we will be utilising our featured@ fair trader room on the top floor of the shop. This is our second year using this room and we are excited to have three local artists exhibiting there.

Come and see the amazing work of:

Ralph Shuttleworth, a sculptor and designer who harnesses the movement of wood to form intriguing sculptural pieces.

Ceramicist David Helm, whose most recent work is exploring the idea of beauty found in imperfection.

Kevin Threlfall, who captures on canvas experiences that are fleeting and that dissolve into the next; landscapes held together by rhyming connections to shape, line, and colour.

Preview Night: Please join us for a free glass of wine from 7–9pm on Saturday 2nd July.

Meet the Artist Day: Monday 4th July from 12–2pm.

Opening times: We are open 7 days a week and dogs are allowed in the shop.
