Happy New Year!
We’d like to say a very Happy New Year to all of our wonderful customers, members, volunteers and friends of the shop. 2021 was a difficult year for everyone, but thanks to our dedicated volunteers and ongoing support from our customers, both local and not so local, we had a really brilliant year.
Holmfirth Art Week saw the launch of featured@ fair trader, our new art pop-up space on the top floor. Over the last six months we featured work from eleven local artists, from wirework to paper cutting, welded sculptures to linocuts and everything in between. The beautiful, unique artworks brought customers to the shop from all over the country and we’re thrilled to have been able to welcome such incredible artists into the space.
We hosted a number of events and themed evenings, including gin tasting, wreath making and an art opening night with a live saxophone performance.
Our front window drew continued attention as it changed from month to month, featuring such creative wonders as a giant postcard from Ron and Hermione; a recipe for hot apple cider; cardboard houses made by the Year 7 Art Club at Archbishop Holgate’s School; and a wonderfully colourful hot air balloon, taking us around the world in thirty days!
And now, as we look ahead to the coming year, we’re feeling excited and optimistic about what the next twelve months will bring for Fair Trader. With an excellent team of staff and volunteers, we have big plans for events, competitions, products and featured@ fair trader for the year to come, which we can’t wait to share with you.
So, we’d like to say thank you for continuing on this journey with us, and we’re looking forward to sharing 2022 with you, which we hope will be the strongest year for Fair Trader to date … watch this space!
