RHC Nature Trail

10th – 18th February 2024

Join the family nature trail around Holmfirth. Have fun and be in with a chance of winning a hamper of sustainable goodies!

THIS IS A FREE EVENT – NO TICKETS REQUIRED.

We at Fair Trader have teamed up once more with River Holme Connections to bring you a fun, family-friendly and educational activity that has been planned for this February half-term (Saturday 10th until Sunday 18th). All you need is a pen or pencil and a scrap of paper. Wrap up warm and head out!

The Holmfirth-based Family Nature Trail Event consists of a selection of 10 animal and bird photos randomly fixed within the trail.  Hidden in the information within each photo is a bold typed letter.  Identify each letter and spell the name of a local shop in the town.

The trail is short and fun to do, giving children a chance to identify some of our most beautiful and striking local wildlife.  The trail passes through the Sands area of the park.  Get the kids out for some fresh air and admire our little section of the River Holme.

The trail finishes at the Old Tollhouse, which houses Holmfirth’s Fair Trader shop. In the bird-themed shop window, you will spot the last letter of the competition. It will be well hidden within the window display!

Once you have completed your answer, post it through the shop’s letterbox with your family’s name and contact details. The winning family will be chosen at random.

To win some extra goodies for your family, please take a photo of your family outside Fair Trader, post it on social media and tag us in it.

The prize consists of a hamper containing lots of sustainable and fairly-traded products and some maps and leaflets for you and your family to encourage birds into your garden and to get the kids engaging with nature.
