Carl Longmate
I was born in Manchester in 1957.
I have always been interested in Art & Design, so art college was a certainty.
After 4 years of fun, I started my career with a Manchester Advertising agency.
My job was: “Finished Artist”, cow gum, Letraset, and making the tea.
I eventually tried my hand at self-employment.
Designing & manufacturing my very own shop mannequins!
I won a Best Young Business from the DTI (Department of Trade & Industry); Great times!
I’ve had a colorful life and worked for some amazing companies including the international design company Vitra, Switzerland & Steelcase in America.
Now a full-time plein-air painter using oil as my preferred medium.
Painting outside has always worked for me, I like the immediate results.
It’s a very honest way of painting.
Hating the verbose nonsense associated with art, I’d rather do it, than talk about it.
“I like to paint what’s in front of me”
I run lots of workshops and regularly perform painting demonstrations for art groups & societies.
I sell my artwork through commercial galleries & online.
I’ve been lucky enough to win several painting awards!
