Lauren is a jeweller based in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire. Using traditional silversmithing techniques, Lauren creates beautifully designed botanical and nature inspired jewellery pieces. Working mostly in recycled silver and some copper, she creates delicate jewellery with intricate textures and surface patterns that are inspired by the woodlands and hedgerows near her home in West Yorkshire.
Although a Yorkshire girl through and through, Lauren moved to Glasgow to study Silver Jewellery Design in 2010. When she returned to Yorkshire, she mostly made her pieces as a hobby, occasionally selling at local craft fairs.
She took a break from silversmithing when she had her first child in 2017, but returned to the bench in 2020/21 during the middle of the pandemic.
After having two young children and lockdowns to contend with, Lauren picked up her tools again as a way to rediscover her creative expression as a form of wellbeing and self-care in a difficult time (and hasn’t put them down since).
She combines her love of nature and the seasons with the jewellery she makes. She loves nothing more than walking through the woods, fields, or hedgerows near her home, admiring leaves, trees, flowers and mushrooms, the beautiful tiny details they hold, watching these change throughout the year, and trying to incorporate this in her work.
Most of her jewellery contains floral or leaf motifs. She particularly likes to create surface pattern and texture using various tools to play with the metal, and turn what starts out as a rough and hard piece of silver sheet or wire, into something delicate and beautiful.
