The olive oil is organic, fairtrade and ethically sourced, made from hand-picked Palestinian olives. This rich, peppery oil was the world’s first olive oil to be awarded Fairtrade certification. Sourced from small-scale farmers in the West Bank, it won a Great Taste Award in 2022. Perfect for cooking with or as a dressing.
Zaytoun Za’atar Zesty Thyme Herb Mix uses an indigenous Palestinian variety of thyme. The thyme is hand mixed with toasted sesame, sumac, and sea salt. The result is a mouth watering herb mix that is not only a seasoning but also a topping, or even a dip. Try it the traditional way, with olive oil and freshly baked bread. Why not use it as a seasoning for chicken, roast lamb, fish, and also vegetables? Use it sprinkled on eggs or tomato salad. Palestinian folklore believes that za’atar aids concentration; because of this children often go to school with olive oil and za’atar soaked bread as part of their lunch. Za’atar is the Arabic name for the herb we call thyme.
