Description
Zaytoun Za’atar Zesty Thyme Herb Mix is made using an indigenous Palestinian variety of thyme. The thyme is mixed by hand with toasted sesame, sumac and sea salt. The result is a mouth watering herb mix that can be used not only as seasoning but also as a topping, or even as a dip. It is traditionally eaten with olive oil and freshly baked bread. Why not try it as a seasoning for chicken, roast lamb, fish or vegetables? Use it sprinkled on eggs or tomato salad. In Palestinian folklore, za’atar is thought to aid concentration, and because of this children often go to school with olive oil and za’atar soaked bread as part of their lunch. Za’atar is the Arabic name for the herb known as thyme in English.
